1. Applications should be addressed
to The Chairman, Connellan Airways Trust, and
should include the contact details (including postal address)
for the applicant. The application should briefly state
the nature of the project for which funding is requested,
a broad breakdown of the estimated costs, what other sources
of funding are available (including the amount to be contributed
by the applicant), and how much is being requested from
the Trust.
2. Sufficient information needs
to be provided to enable the Directors to assess the worth
of the application. Although there is no means test applied
to applications, preference will be given to those exhibiting
the greatest need.
3. Applicants should be aware
that under the terms of the Trust Deed, grants can only
be made to children and adults who reside on stations or
in small settlements in the remote areas of outback Australia,
or to people living in the larger outback centres of Australia
who provide assistance to such remote area residents. Applicants
should provide relevant information such as period of residence
in isolated areas, type of schooling and any disadvantages
related to such isolation. The Trust is also prepared to
consider sponsoring events that will spread awareness of
the Trust amongst potential beneficiaries of the Trust (see
Sponsorship Packages).
4. As the Trust is not able
to make retrospective grants, applications must be submitted
well in advance. The Trust normally meets quarterly, so
applications need to be received by the Executive Officer
by the middle of the months of February, May, August and
November. However, applicants are advised to confirm the
closing date well in advance of each meeting. Email submissions
are acceptable.
5. The Trust generally will
not duplicate the activities of other bodies, but may consider
supplementing other sources of funding.
6. Organisations making application
on behalf of a group of individuals are advised that it
may be better to encourage those individuals to apply on
their own behalf, although the more appropriate course will
depend on the particular circumstance ( see 7 below).
7. All applicants are encouraged
to contact the Executive Officer of the Trust for assistance
and advice in the preparation of applications.
